Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has launched a scathing critique of the current INEC chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, alleging that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would not have secured registration or won the 2015 elections if Yakubu had been in charge at the time.
Speaking on Arise TV on Tuesday night, Amaechi lauded former INEC boss Prof. Attahiru Jega for his transparency and openness during the APC’s registration process, contrasting it with what he described as Yakubu’s bias and regression in electoral standards.
“May God bless Jega,” Amaechi said, warning that “state capture” is underway with INEC being used as a political tool. He likened Yakubu’s leadership to that of former INEC chairman Maurice Iwu, stating, “You don’t know whether we are progressing or regressing.”
