Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has dismissed jabs from FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, stating he will not descend into a “childish” exchange of insults. Responding to Wike’s claims that he was only “hungry for power” and not food, Amaechi reminded Nigerians that Wike once served as his chief of staff and could not have made him governor.
“God, Peter Odili, the judiciary, and the people of Rivers made me governor,” he told Arise TV. While Wike insists he played a pivotal role in Amaechi’s rise, even claiming to have proof, Amaechi rebutted that he hired Wike and never offered him the role of Commissioner for Finance.
Amaechi criticised Wike’s political conduct as immature and damaging to institutional respect and family names.
