Anambra Cracks Down on Corruption: 6 Deputy Directors Dismissed for Fake Certificates, 210 Ghost Workers Uncove

Anambra

The Anambra State Local Government Service Commission has dismissed six Deputy Directors found to possess fake certificates. Additionally, the commission has identified and removed 210 suspected ghost workers from the payroll.

According to Mr. Vincent Ezeaka, the commission's chairman, the affected directors obtained their alleged fake certificates from Imo State University. He mentioned that investigations are ongoing, expecting responses from other universities nationwide.

This move is part of the commission's commitment to promoting professionalism and eliminating corruption within the local government system. The discovery of ghost workers and individuals with fake certificates was made possible through thorough personnel audits and the use of a sophisticated biometric identification and verification system.

The commission has completed the certificate screening for Grade Levels 15 and 16 and will soon commence screening for Grade Level 14 and below. This ongoing exercise aims to weed out fraudsters and combat certificate racketeering within the local government system.

Ezeaka praised Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his support in implementing a digitally smart local government system, which includes the use of a clock-in-clock-out electronic attendance register.
