Governor Chukwuma Soludo has thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as the president’s strong commitment to a free, fair, and credible governorship election in Anambra State.
Soludo gave the remarks on Sunday in his acceptance speech after the Independent National Electoral Commission declared him winner of the November 8 poll.
The governor said President Tinubu consistently stressed the need for credible elections and deserved commendation for allowing the process to run without interference.
“With a sense of gratitude to the President and Commander-in-Chief, I thank President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for being a true democrat. He has shown, very clearly, his commitment to guaranteeing a free and fair election,” he said.
Soludo also praised the INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Ojo Amupitan, describing the exercise as the most efficiently conducted election in the state since the heavy use of technology began.
“This is your first major outing, and I am pleased that your first impression is a strong one. INEC delivered,” he said.
Celebrating his re-election alongside his deputy, Onyeka Ibezim, Soludo said the result reflected the will of the people, noting that voter engagement was one of the highest the state has seen in recent years.

“I just came out to say thank you to Ndi Anambra. This is a moment to celebrate. You have spoken,” he said. “Four years ago, we were elected with about 112,000 votes. This time, you spoke even louder. This victory isn’t just a win — it is history.”
He noted that around 22 percent of registered voters participated in the exercise, which he described as unprecedented for the state.
Soludo added that his re-election marks only the third time an incumbent governor has been returned to office in Anambra since 1999, pointing out that he secured a commanding 73 percent of the total votes cast.
