The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Felix Morka, has claimed that he and his family have received numerous death threats following his comments about Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi. Morka stated that the threats were triggered by Obi’s accusation that his remarks during a Sunday interview on Arise Television amounted to a threat to Obi's life.
Morka revealed that he had documented over 400 threats, including about 200 explicit death threats, many of which were detailed and graphic. He described some of the threats as including plans to shoot him, behead him, and commit other violent acts, with some even targeting his family members. Morka emphasized that the threats were not mere rhetoric but serious, explicit threats that he planned to report to law enforcement agencies.
He strongly denied that he had made any threatening comments about Obi, calling the allegations baseless and insisting that those issuing the threats were acting independently. Morka maintained his position that he did not threaten Obi, and he trusted law enforcement to take swift action.
The controversy began after Morka accused Obi of "crossing the line" with his criticism of President Bola Tinubu's administration, asserting that Obi “deserved whatever came his way.” This sparked outrage, with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar calling for an apology from the APC for using inflammatory language. The LP also issued a seven-day ultimatum to Tinubu, demanding action against Morka. The Labour Party has condemned what it called a targeted campaign against Obi.
