Apostles of Jagaban Accuse Opposition Governors of Misappropriating Federal Government Palliatives

The Apostles of Jagaban, a pro-Tinubu group, has accused governors from opposition parties of misusing Federal Government palliatives meant to ease the economic hardships faced by Nigerians. The group's National Chairman, Chief Gilbert Olokesusi, made the allegations in a statement released on Tuesday.

Olokesusi claimed that certain opposition governors had re-bagged rice provided by the Federal Government with their parties' logos and denied receiving the palliatives, including a significant financial package of N100 billion. These relief measures, initiated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, were intended to support citizens during the ongoing economic challenges.

"As part of the relief initiative, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu recently provided each state, including the Federal Capital Territory, with 20 trailers of rice and a financial package of N100 billion. These measures were intended to support citizens during tough economic times," the statement read.

The group urged President Tinubu to appoint liaison officers to oversee the transparent and effective distribution of the palliatives, especially in states governed by opposition parties. Olokesusi also accused some governors of diverting the allocated funds to finance anti-government protests, which he said had led to arrests for vandalism and theft.

"These governors are using the N100 billion to finance 'Tinubu must go' protesters. The worm is multiplying by binary fusion, promising to kill the dog. If the dog dies, the worm will equally perish simultaneously," Olokesusi stated, using a metaphor to highlight the potential fallout from the unrest.

He criticized the protests, labeling them as "violent looters masquerading as peaceful protesters." Olokesusi further claimed that many of those involved in the protests are now in detention for criminal activities, while the children of their sponsors live in luxury in top hotels both in Nigeria and abroad.
