Army Lieutenant Killed, Four Soldiers Wounded in Boko Haram Ambush

The Defence Headquarters clarified that during an ambush along the Buratai-Buni Gari road, an Army Lieutenant was killed, and four soldiers were wounded. Additionally, six terrorists were killed in a subsequent engagement when troops pursued them to their hideouts.

The incident occurred on April 5, 2024, at about 0935hrs, when troops of Operation Hadin Kai encountered the terrorist ambush. Despite the loss of the lieutenant and injuries to four personnel, the troops swiftly responded, pursuing the terrorists to their hideouts within the Timbuktu Triangle.

During the pursuit, troops engaged the terrorists in a firefight, resulting in the neutralization of six terrorists. The troops also recovered 5 AK-47 rifles and 103 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition from the terrorists. However, some terrorists managed to escape, and troops are currently conducting operations to apprehend the remaining perpetrators.

The Defence Headquarters commended the troops for their bravery and urged them to remain vigilant as they continue to secure the region from terrorist activities.
