Brigadier-General Chima Ekeator, the Leader of the Army Force Headquarters Recruitment Sensitisation Team in Anambra, has raised concerns about the low registration rate for the ongoing Army recruitment in the South-East, revealing that only 200 youths from the region have signed up. This is in stark contrast to other states, where no less than 4,000 registrations have been recorded.

During a sensitisation event for youth leaders and President-Generals (P-Gs) of various communities in the state, Ekeator emphasized the importance of increasing youth participation in the recruitment process. He urged community leaders to encourage their youth to participate, highlighting that greater involvement would ensure the region's full representation in the Army.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo, represented by the Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Patrick Aghambah, assured that the state government would continue its efforts to raise awareness and motivate the youth to consider joining the Army. The government also called on traditional rulers and P-Gs to mobilise at least 10 youths from each community to participate in the recruitment exercise.

The recruitment targets youths aged between 18 and 22, and local officials have been urged to promote this opportunity to young people in their communities. The push to increase registration comes as the state seeks to ensure its quota for Army representation is fully met.
