Troops from the 1 Division of the Nigerian Army have successfully rescued 16 kidnap victims in Tantatu Community, Kajuru Local Government Area, Kaduna State. The rescue operation followed prompt action based on actionable intelligence received around 10:30 pm on March 17. Maj.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, the Army spokesperson, confirmed this in a statement on Tuesday, March 19.
According to Nwachukwu, the troops swiftly responded to the intelligence, tracking down insurgents who had attacked the community and abducted several villagers. Upon reaching the scene, the troops engaged the insurgents in a fierce firefight, leading to the rescue of the 16 kidnapped victims. The operation is part of ongoing efforts to combat insurgency and ensure the safety of communities in the region.
The troops are continuing their efforts, scouring the bushes in the area to locate and rescue any other victims still held captive. The operation aims to thwart the nefarious activities of insurgents and restore peace and security to the affected community.
