Meanwhile, Obasanjo recently dismissed rumours circulating about his death, insisting that he remains strong and healthy at 89.

Speaking during a colloquium held in Abeokuta to mark his birthday, the former president criticised those spreading a fake letter claiming he had spoken about his death.

He said the claims were false and unnecessary, adding that those behind them were only wasting their time.

Obasanjo maintained that he still feels strong and believes God has kept him alive and healthy for a reason. He also said he would continue to live actively for as long as his Creator desires.
