Operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command have arrested a 28-year-old man, Baffa’ji Abba, for the alleged rape and assault of his eight-year-old biological daughter.
The arrest was confirmed in a statement released on Thursday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Nafiu Habib.
According to the police, the incident was reported at the Divisional Police Headquarters in Alkaleri on New Year's Eve, December 31, 2025. The complainant, identified as Baffa’ji Muhammed, reported that the abuse occurred the previous evening, December 30, around 6:30 pm.
The statement detailed that the suspect allegedly lured the minor into a bathroom where he forcefully had carnal knowledge of her multiple times.
Upon receiving the report, a team of detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Alkaleri, CSP Kadiri Danjuma, swung into action. They apprehended the suspect and immediately rushed the victim to the General Hospital, Alkaleri, for urgent medical attention.

The Police spokesperson revealed that during interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime.
Consequently, the Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed the Deputy Commissioner in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to conduct a discreet and diligent investigation into the matter.
The police assured the public that the suspect will be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
