The Benue State Police Command has confirmed the successful rescue of all six Nigerian Law School students abducted along the Jootar-Wukari Federal Highway.
The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Edet Udeme, disclosed the development in a statement issued to the press on Friday.
According to the statement, the students, who were en route from Anambra State to the Nigerian Law School, Yola Campus in Adamawa, were abducted on July 26.
“They have been released and reunited with their families this morning, August 1,” DSP Udeme said.
The police said the students were rescued near High Tension Road in Wukari, Taraba State, and were initially taken to the Ukum Divisional Police Headquarters in Benue before being handed over to their families.
While details of the rescue operation remain undisclosed, the Command assured the public of its continued commitment to ensuring safety on major highways and bringing perpetrators of criminal acts to justice.
