The Police Command in Benue has confirmed the abduction of Dr. Emmanuel Barki, the acting Rector of Benue State Polytechnic, Ugbokolo. The incident occurred as the Rector and others were returning to Ugbokolo after an official trip to Makurdi.
According to the Public Relations Officer, Mr. Sewuese Anene, Dr. Barki was kidnapped along with some management staff and their driver. They were ambushed and taken into the bush, leaving their vehicle abandoned on the highway.

NAN sources revealed that the victims were forcibly herded into the surrounding forest. The identities of the abductors and their motives remain unknown.
Chief Joseph Har, Adviser to the Governor on Internal Security, confirmed that security personnel had been deployed and were actively working to rescue the victims.
