Burna Boy

Nigerian music superstar Burna Boy has hit another major milestone, becoming the first Nigerian artiste to receive five Grammy nominations specifically in album categories.

His newest album, No Sign of Weakness (2025), has been nominated for Best Global Music Album at the 2025 Grammy Awards.

He’ll be competing alongside Siddhant Bhatia’s Sounds of Kumbha, Youssou N’Dour’s Éclairer le monde: Light the World, Shakti’s Mind Explosion (50th Anniversary Tour Live), Chapter III: We Return to Light by Anoushka Shankar with Alam Khan and Sarathy Korwar, and Caetano e Bethânia Ao Vivo by Brazilian legends Caetano Veloso and Maria Bethânia.

This nomination adds to Burna’s already impressive Grammy history, which includes African Giant (2019), Twice As Tall (2020), Love, Damini (2022), and I Told Them (2023). With No Sign of Weakness now added to the list, he continues to solidify his global impact.

Burna Boy also grabbed another nod in the Best African Music Performance category for his song Love.

– Ayra Starr and Wizkid were nominated for Gimme Dat.

The category also features Hope & Love by Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin, and Push 2 Start by South Africa’s Tyla.

Overall, the nominations show just how far African music—especially Nigerian music—has come on the world stage. The winners will be announced next year in Los Angeles.
