Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has provided insight into the club's unsuccessful attempt to sign Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen during the summer transfer window. Despite making a strong push on transfer deadline day, Chelsea was unable to secure Osimhen's signature.
Speaking in a press conference following Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace in the Premier League, Maresca revealed that Osimhen turned down several proposals from the club. He emphasized that the conditions of the transfer were not favorable for Chelsea.
“We want players, but we want players that we decide on, and then the conditions have to be our conditions,” Maresca explained. “So if the players are not here, then that means the conditions were not good for us.”

When asked if Chelsea might revisit the possibility of signing Osimhen in January, Maresca remained open to the idea but was non-committal. “Yeah, we’ll see now, from here to January. I don’t know how many games we have, but I’ve told you many times I like to focus on the next days. So we will see in January,” he added.
Chelsea’s pursuit of Osimhen highlights the club's ongoing efforts to bolster their attacking options, though it remains to be seen if they will renew their interest in the Napoli striker in the future.
