Chief of Air Staff Reviews Nigerian Air Force Efforts, Emphasizes Commitment to National Security

Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), conducted a thorough review today of the NAF's achievements over the past year, reiterating the commitment to intensify efforts against terrorism, insurgency, and other security challenges in Nigeria.

During a strategic meeting held at NAF Headquarters in Abuja, attended by Branch Chiefs, Air Officers Commanding, Directors, Commandants, and Commanders, Air Marshal Abubakar emphasized the need for proactive measures in light of global and regional security dynamics impacting Nigeria. He pointed out the rise in coup attempts across West Africa and the withdrawal of troops from regional peacekeeping missions, which heightens security risks in the Sahel region and contributes to increased influx of weapons and terrorists into Nigeria.

Acknowledging the NAF's response to these challenges, Air Marshal Abubakar highlighted strategic re-evaluations and the adoption of new air power tactics that have led to significant progress in operations against insurgency, terrorism, banditry, and oil theft. Despite these achievements, he underscored persistent economic challenges in Nigeria, including youth unemployment, inflation, and poverty, which continue to exacerbate security concerns.

Air Marshal Abubakar commended the dedication and professionalism of NAF personnel, expressing gratitude for their unwavering support since he assumed office. He emphasized the importance of continual adaptation and enhancement of NAF capabilities to effectively address evolving security threats across the country.

The meeting served as a platform to reassess NAF objectives aligned with the CAS command philosophy, evaluate operational performance, and identify areas needing improvement. Moving forward, the NAF remains committed to agility, resilience, and responsiveness in safeguarding Nigeria's territorial integrity and ensuring lasting peace and security.
