Ogun State has confirmed a cholera outbreak with nine out of 25 suspected cases testing positive since June 12. The Commissioner of Health, Dr. Tomi Coker, reported one fatality involving a 62-year-old woman in Ijebu Igbo, Ijebu North Local Government Area. The outbreak has now reached seven local governments: Remo North, Sagamu, Obafemi Owode, Ewekoro, Ado/Odo/Ota, Ijebu North, and Odeda.

Dr. Coker highlighted the risk factors for cholera, including consuming contaminated water, drinks, and food, as well as poor sanitary conditions and personal hygiene. Notably, five of the confirmed cases had contact with Lagos and consumed tiger nut drinks, potentially linking to the outbreak's spread.
