Court Nullifies Muhammadu Sanusi II’s Reinstatement as Emir of Kano

A Federal High Court in Kano has nullified the reinstatement of Muhammadu Sanusi II as the 16th Emir of Kano. Justice Abdullahi Muhammad Liman, who presided over the case, declared all actions taken following the reinstatement invalid.

The court also set aside the new emirate law of 2024, which had been used to dethrone Aminu Bayero and four other first-class Emirs in the state. This law, according to the court, has been repealed and holds no legal standing.
