The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has set May 7 for hearing a certificate forgery case against Mrs. Odom Anurika Anita, a Director at the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA).

In a ruling delivered by Justice Binta Nyako on Tuesday, the court granted the University of Port Harcourt permission to file processes regarding the matter.

During proceedings, Mr. Jude Ezenwata, a lawyer representing the University of Port Harcourt, informed the court of a motion to regularize and deem a counter affidavit filed by the University out of time, in opposition to the plaintiff’s suit.

The case was brought by Mr. Njoku Ifeanyichukwu, who has alleged discrepancies in the certificates held by the FCDA Director. Among other requests, he seeks to compel the University of Port Harcourt to provide admission records, departmental results, and the graduation certificate of the defendant. Additionally, he is requesting that the FCDA produce the defendant’s academic records, graduation certificate, and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate.

The FCDA, University of Port Harcourt, and Mrs. Odom are listed as the 1st to 3rd defendants in the case, filed under FHC/ABJ/CD/929/2024.

The plaintiff argued that under the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act, the defendants are legally required to provide the requested certificates.

Justice Nyako ordered all parties to file and exchange relevant documents before the next hearing date.
