Dangote Cement Expands Footprint, Launches New ₦100bn Plant in Ivory Coast
Dangote Cement has officially commenced operations at its new state-of-the-art plant in Attingué, about 30 kilometres from Abidjan, Ivory Coast — marking another major milestone in the company’s pan-African expansion drive.
In a statement released on Sunday, the company said the announcement was made last Wednesday by Serge Gbotta, Managing Director of Dangote Cement Ivory Coast, during a ceremony held at Novotel Abidjan-Marcory.
Built on a 50-hectare site, the Attingué plant boasts an impressive annual production capacity of 3 million tonnes of cement, making it one of Dangote’s largest facilities outside Nigeria.
“This strategic project, with an estimated investment of 100 billion CFA francs, reflects Aliko Dangote’s vision of a self-sufficient Africa — one capable of transforming its own raw materials into world-class finished products,” the company stated.
With the launch, Ivory Coast becomes the 11th African country to host a Dangote Cement production facility. The group now operates across the continent with a combined capacity of 55 million tonnes per year, strengthening its position as Africa’s leading cement producer.
According to the company, the new plant is expected to play a key role in supporting Ivory Coast’s rapid urbanisation and infrastructure growth, while helping to reduce dependence on imported cement.

Beyond industrial benefits, the project is also set to create more than 1,000 direct and indirect jobs, offering new opportunities for youths, transporters, small businesses, and local suppliers.
Speaking at the launch, Gbotta said the facility symbolises Dangote’s commitment to economic development and sustainability in Ivory Coast.
“Our ambition is clear — to provide Ivorians with high-quality, internationally standard cement produced locally at competitive prices,” he said. “The Attingué plant is not just an industrial project; it’s a symbol of confidence in Ivory Coast’s future and a partnership for sustainable development.”
