Dangote Petroleum Refinery has once again made headlines by announcing a significant reduction in the prices of diesel and aviation fuel. The new prices, set at N940 and N980 per litre respectively, mark a further drop from the already celebrated reduction to N1,000 just two weeks prior.
This latest price change is part of the refinery's efforts to alleviate the economic challenges faced by Nigerians. Customers purchasing five million litres or more will benefit from the N940 price for diesel, while those buying one million litres or more will pay N980.
In a statement, Mr Anthony Chiejina, the Head of Communication at Dangote Petroleum Refinery, highlighted the company's commitment to providing affordable fuel. He announced a strategic partnership with MRS Oil and Gas stations, ensuring competitive prices at all their outlets nationwide. This partnership extends to major oil marketers, aiming to prevent retail buyers from purchasing fuel at exorbitant prices.
The continuous reduction in fuel prices by Dangote Petroleum Refinery, from N1,700 to N1,200, and now N940 for diesel, and N1,000 to N980 for aviation fuel, has received commendation from various quarters. Nigerian President Bola Tinubu praised the refinery's efforts, calling it an "enterprising feat." Mr Ajayi Kadiri, Director General of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), lauded the impact of these price reductions on the national economy, foreseeing positive changes in critical sectors like industry, transportation, and agriculture.
