The Defence Headquarters revealed the names of terrorist leaders who were killed during operations in northern Nigeria. Major General Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, disclosed the names during a briefing in Abuja. The operations took place between January and March 2024, resulting in the elimination of several terrorist kingpins.
Among the slain terrorists were Abu Bilal Minuki (aka Abubakar Mainok), who was the Head of Is-Al Furqan Province (ISGS and ISWAP), and Haruna Isiya Boderi, a terrorist operating along the Birnin Gwari Forest in Kaduna State and the Abuja-Kaduna Highway. Boderi was killed by troops on February 21, 2024. Other neutralized terrorists include Kachallah Damina, who was killed alongside over 50 combatants on March 24, as well as Kachallah Alhaji Dayi, Kachallah Idi (Namaidaro), Kachallah Kabiru (Doka), Kachallah Azarailu (Farin-Ruwa), Kachallah Balejo, Ubangida, Alhaji Baldu, and others.
During the first three months of the year, a total of 2,351 terrorists were killed, 2,308 were arrested, and 1,241 kidnapped hostages were rescued in various operations conducted by the military.
