Delta Police Arrest 49-Year-Old Woman for Stealing 2-Month-Old Baby in Koko

The Delta State Police Command has arrested 49-year-old Joy Temitope for allegedly abducting a two-month-old baby after drugging the child's 20-year-old mother in Koko, Delta State.

The development was confirmed in a statement issued Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe.

According to the police, Temitope lured the young mother under false pretenses, drugged her, and absconded with the infant. The suspect was tracked and apprehended three months after the incident, and the baby, now five months old, has been successfully reunited with his mother.

“The suspect, Mrs Joy Temitope, aged 49 years, lured and deceived a 20-year-old girl who had a two-month-old baby. She drugged the girl and stole her baby somewhere in Koko, Delta State,” the statement read.

“Acting on intelligence-driven policing, the suspect was arrested three months later and the baby boy… rescued and reunited with his mother,” Edafe added.

The police have not disclosed further details regarding the motive of the suspect or whether there are accomplices involved.
