Dr. Tokunbo Awolowo-Dosumu, daughter of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, recently shared personal insights about her father’s life and legacy during an interview on State Affairs with Edmund Obilo. Speaking from the Awolowo family home in Ikenne, she described the profound impact of his passing in 1987, recounting a particularly emotional memory of their final moments together.

Awolowo-Dosumu reflected on her father's last days, describing the suddenness of his death as traumatic. She recalled visiting him on the days leading up to his passing and expressed regret over not staying overnight as he had requested. His last words to her, "Omo a ke yin" (your child will take care of you), now hold deep significance for her.

She fondly remembered Chief Awolowo as a devoted father who balanced his family life with his greater mission. He imparted life lessons through heartfelt conversations and was known for his passion for learning and mystical nature. Awolowo-Dosumu highlighted his love for reading and his habit of inviting professors to teach him various subjects.

Describing her father as a good listener and a humble man, Awolowo-Dosumu emphasized his unique ability to offer valuable advice and his commitment to his children, despite the demands of his public life.
