Barely minutes after Nigerian Police operatives were withdrawn from the Lagos State House of Assembly, former Speaker Mudasiru Obasa made a dramatic return to the complex in Alausa Secretariat, Ikeja, attempting to reclaim his former office.
Dressed in a white Yoruba outfit and his signature cap, Obasa stormed the premises with multiple police officers, reportedly to prevent resistance as he headed straight to his former office.
Police Withdraw Security from Speaker Meranda and Assembly
Meanwhile, in a surprising development, security attached to the current Speaker, Mojisola Meranda, and the entire Lagos Assembly has allegedly been withdrawn with immediate effect.
The Senior Special Assistant on Media to Speaker Meranda, Ganzallo Victor, raised the alarm in a statement, warning that the sudden withdrawal of police officers had left the Speaker and the Assembly vulnerable to threats.
"The Speaker and the House of Assembly are now left exposed with this development," he stated.
As tensions rise within the Lagos State political scene, the unfolding power struggle between Obasa and Meranda raises serious concerns about security, governance stability, and potential political maneuvers within the state's legislative structure.
