Government's Stance on Foreign Interference

The Federal Government has issued a warning against foreign involvement in the ongoing cost of living protests. It emphasized that any foreign entity residing in Nigeria, found to be influencing these demonstrations directly or indirectly, would face appropriate actions.

The government has initiated an investigation into the violence that has marred the protests, which began a week ago. Additionally, the police have apprehended six Spaniards for their alleged participation in these protests.

DSS Statements and Actions

Dr. Afunanya elaborated on the reasons behind the arrests: "The individuals were apprehended due to their location during the protests and the display of a foreign flag. As a responsible security organization, we are obligated to verify and ascertain the circumstances surrounding their presence."

He clarified that the operation was not targeted specifically at Polish nationals but was part of broader security enforcement measures. Afunanya also emphasized the importance of not allowing foreign lands to be used as a launchpad for activities that threaten Nigeria's peace and stability.
