Edo Joins as Massive Protests Sweep Nigeria: Citizens Demand End to Economic Hardship

Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in Edo State have taken to the streets of Benin City, protesting against the current economic hardship in Nigeria. Carrying placards with messages such as "End Economic Hardship" and "FG End the Hunger in Nigeria Now," the protesters expressed their grievances.

This protest in Benin City follows a similar demonstration in Ibadan, where residents also protested against economic difficulties. Meanwhile, in Lagos State, the "Take It Back Movement," a human rights group, staged a protest against the soaring price of food and the high cost of living, despite warnings from the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Adegoke Fayoade.

Additionally, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has announced plans to stage a nationwide protest beginning tomorrow. This decision comes after the NLC issued a 14-day ultimatum to the Federal Government to implement agreements reached on October 2, 2023, following the removal of the fuel subsidy. The NLC alleges that the government has failed to implement these measures, leading to widespread hardship.
