Elder statesman Edwin Clark, leader of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), has criticized former President Muhammadu Buhari for appointing Abdullahi Adamu, a former Governor of Nasarawa State, as the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) despite corruption charges against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television, Clark expressed concern over the freedom enjoyed by alleged corrupt politicians in Nigeria. He highlighted the lack of progress in cases involving 15 former governors and ministers who were taken to court during Nuhu Ribadu's tenure as EFCC chairman.

Clark recalled that Abdullahi Adamu was charged with embezzling N15 billion from Nasarawa State along with other commissioners. Despite these charges, Adamu contested and won a Senate seat, and eventually, Buhari appointed him as the APC National Chairman.

The elder statesman criticized the lack of follow-up on Adamu's trial, noting that he became a vocal critic of corruption despite his past allegations. Clark's remarks underscore ongoing concerns about the handling of corruption cases and the perceived impunity of some politicians in Nigeria.
