The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has detained six senior officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in connection with an alleged N6 billion fraud. The officers are currently undergoing interrogation at the EFCC headquarters in Jabi, Abuja.

Although details of the investigation remain unclear, it is known that the NSCDC officers were handed over to the EFCC on Monday by the NSCDC Commandant General, Ahmed Audi. The EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, had reportedly written to the NSCDC CG, requesting the release of the officers for interrogation.

Sources close to the investigation, who preferred to remain anonymous, disclosed that the six senior NSCDC officers are being probed for their alleged involvement in fraudulent activities amounting to over N6 billion. The EFCC has clarified that the NSCDC CG is not under investigation or in custody.

Efforts to reach the EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, for comments were unsuccessful as calls and messages to his phone went unanswered. Similarly, the NSCDC spokesperson, Babawale Afolabi, expressed unawareness of the situation when contacted.
