Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Adeniran Akinwale, has called on youths in the state to abstain from the planned October 1 protest, cautioning that it could be hijacked by miscreants, leading to violence and disorder. Speaking in an interview with *The PUNCH* on Sunday in Ado Ekiti, Akinwale stressed the importance of maintaining peace and urged young people to embrace dialogue and avoid using illegal means to pursue legitimate concerns.
The commissioner highlighted the risks of protests being overtaken by hoodlums, which could result in chaos and destruction. He noted that the police would continue to engage with key stakeholders to ensure that peace prevails across Ekiti State.

“We are enjoining the people to ensure they don’t go out to protest so that hoodlums will not hijack it, which will not be to anyone’s benefit. We are definitely going to reach out at the same time and ensure peace and tranquillity in Ekiti State,” Akinwale said.
He further advised that the current economic situation in Nigeria and globally requires everyone to make sacrifices and show understanding, rather than resorting to actions that could disrupt peace.
Akinwale emphasized that while it is important to address grievances, it is equally essential to ensure that efforts to pursue justice and legality do not lead to violence or illegal activities, urging Ekiti’s youth to stay on the path of peace and dialogue.
