Lagos is set to experience above-normal rainfall this year, with an expected volume of 1,936.2mm, according to the Seasonal Climate Predictions (SCP). Residents are advised to adopt environmentally-friendly habits and take measures to protect the environment.

Commissioner for the Environment and Water Environment, Tokunbo Wahab, made this announcement during a news conference on the SCP and its implications for the state. He emphasized the importance of preparedness in light of the predicted rainfall.

The predicted average annual rainfall of 1,936.2mm exceeds the long-term average of 1721.48mm. The rainy season is expected to start in the first week of April and end in the first week of December.

Wahab highlighted the onset and cessation dates for rainfall in various parts of Lagos, including Ikeja, Badagry, Ikorodu, and Lagos Island. He also noted that while below-normal rainfall is anticipated in the first half of the season, the second half may see normal to above-normal rainfall.
