The plea bargain application filed by convicted billionaire kidnapper Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, known as Evans, and his co-defendant Joseph Emeka, faced a delay on Thursday due to a request for adjournment by the prosecution counsel.

At the Lagos High Court, Tafawa Balewa Square Annex (TBS), prosecuting counsel Mr. M. O. Olateju informed Justice Sherifat Sonaike that the prosecution was awaiting a response from the plea bargain committee before proceeding with the hearing.

Evans and Emeka had sought a plea bargain on charges of conspiracy to kidnap and attempted murder brought against them by the Lagos State Government. Olateju stated, "We shall be asking for a further date for the hearing of a plea bargain by the first and second defendants."

Counsel for the third defendant, A. C. Enueshike, indicated readiness to proceed to trial, saying, "We have heard the submission of the prosecution and we are ready to proceed for trial."

Justice Sonaike subsequently adjourned the case to October 17 for both trial and the plea bargain hearing for those who applied.

Evans, along with Emeka, Victor Aduba, and Okapana Linus, faces charges of conspiracy to kidnap, kidnapping, and attempted murder, preferred against them by the Lagos State Government.
