Former Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Agboola Ayoola, popularly known as Alleluyah, has announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State.
Ayoola, who is from Itesiwaju Local Government Area, made his decision known in a letter dated Friday, October 10, 2025, formally ending his long-standing relationship with the party.
The former lawmaker served as Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs under former governors Rashidi Ladoja and the late Adebayo Alao-Akala between 2003 and 2011. He later represented Oyo North Senatorial District from 2011 to 2015, during which he was the only PDP senator elected from the South-West.
In his resignation letter, released in Ibadan on Friday, Ayoola expressed appreciation to the PDP for giving him the platform to serve both at the state and national levels.
He explained that his decision to leave the party was based on “future political pursuits,” adding that his absence from recent local and state congresses was intentional.
