The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 52-year-old man, Harry Collins, for impersonating a police officer while fully dressed in a sergeant’s uniform on the Long Bridge, Warewa.
According to a statement released on Saturday in Abeokuta by the police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, Collins was apprehended on February 20, 2025, at around 2:10 p.m. during a reconnaissance patrol led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations.
Suspicious Activity Leads to Arrest
“The patrol team became suspicious of the suspect’s presence on the bridge and conducted an immediate arrest,” Odutola revealed.
During interrogation, Collins failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for his impersonation, heightening concerns about his motives and potential criminal activities.
Investigation Ongoing, Suspect to Face Charges
The police have launched further investigations to uncover whether Collins was involved in any criminal operations.
“The suspect will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation,” Odutola stated, adding that the Ogun State Police Command has warned residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals.
This arrest underscores the police’s commitment to tackling impersonation and crime in the state, ensuring that lawbreakers face the full weight of the law.
