Nigerian rapper and activist Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has responded to defamatory claims made by social media influencer Martins Otse, also known as Verydarkman, in a recent interview on *The Afro Beat Podcast* published on YouTube.
Falz addressed the allegations, including claims of collusion between him, his father Femi Falana, and certain individuals to manipulate justice. Verydarkman also accused Falz of having a homosexual relationship with popular crossdresser Bobrisky, questioning his credibility as an activist.
Expressing shock at the accusations, Falz described them as "horrible" and "baseless," stating that there was no proof to support these defamatory statements. He revealed that he had taken legal action for defamation of character, as the claims were damaging to his reputation. “He who alleges must prove," Falz said, confirming that the matter is now in court.
Falz also addressed recent misreporting, clarifying that no financial settlement had been ordered, contrary to rumors that the court demanded N500 million in compensation. He explained that while the defamation case is ongoing, the court has issued an interim injunction for Verydarkman to take down the defamatory videos and refrain from making further defamatory remarks pending the resolution of the case.
The rapper reiterated that the defamatory videos were still live on the influencer’s pages, despite the court’s ruling.
