Fatal Bandit Raid Leaves Seven Dead at Plateau State Market

Seven people have tragically lost their lives following a bandit attack at Zurak Compani Market in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State. The attack, which occurred on Sunday afternoon, also resulted in several others sustaining injuries.

Abdullahi Hussaini, a youth leader in the community, confirmed the incident on Monday, stating that the bandits arrived at the market around 2 pm and began shooting at people conducting business, leading to the deaths of the victims.

"The gunmen arrived at the market in their numbers, riding motorcycles. They started shooting indiscriminately, killing seven people instantly, while many others were injured," Hussaini said.

After the attack, the bandits fled to the bush, but police personnel have been deployed to the community to restore law and order. However, concerns remain about the need for increased security deployment in the area to prevent future incidents.

In response to the incident, the spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Alabo Alfred, stated that four persons were killed during the attack, with six others injured and receiving treatment. An investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the attack.
