FCT Police Arrest Man Accused of Sourcing Ammunition for Zamfara Bandits

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has arrested a 32-year-old man, Ahmed Abubakar, for allegedly trying to buy ammunition for bandits operating in Zamfara State.

Abubakar, who is originally from Gusau but lives in Anguwan Dodo, Gwagwalada, was arrested on December 7 by officers of the Mabushi Division after the police received credible intelligence.

According to a security report shared by analyst Zagazola Makama, Abubakar allegedly contacted a serving soldier, Corporal Yusuf Mohammed, to help him secure 1,000 rounds of ammunition. The bullets were reportedly meant for bandit groups in Zamfara, in exchange for payment.

During interrogation, Abubakar reportedly confessed that he was acting on the orders of his uncle, Ahmed Yakubu, who lives at the same address but is currently on the run. Yakubu was said to have instructed him to purchase the ammunition and transport it to Zamfara for use by bandits in their area.
