The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested 348 suspects during coordinated raids on 17 identified black spots across Abuja. Among these suspects, 320 have been prosecuted and charged to court. The raids targeted areas such as Apo-Dutse Panteka, Diplomatic Zone, Jabi Panteka, and Maitama, among others. The police also recovered 11 firearms, ensuring dangerous weapons are removed from circulation.
Highlighting the rationale behind these proactive measures, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, emphasized that the daily raids are crucial to deterring crime, protecting public infrastructure, and curbing drug abuse. Key recoveries included 10 trucks of vandalized metals, 26 manhole covers, 20 streetlight poles, and large quantities of cables, Indian hemp, and other hard drugs. These efforts disrupt criminal activities and restore public assets to the community.
The police lauded the collaboration of residents and stakeholders in supporting the command’s initiatives. SP Adeh reiterated that the goal is to maintain a crime-free environment in the FCT while also urging the public to report suspicious activities through dedicated control room numbers.
The FCT Police Command remains steadfast in its commitment to public safety, assuring residents of continued vigilance and strategic operations to uphold law and order across the capital. These measures underscore the resolve to ensure a secure and peaceful environment for all.
