The Federal Government has announced that the next stage of the recruitment exercise for the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) and the Federal Fire Service (FFS) will commence in August. This update was disclosed by Ja’afaru Ahmed, Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board, in a statement released on Sunday in Abuja.

Ahmed confirmed that the recruitment process, originally scheduled to conclude by June 15, 2024, will now be finalized before the end of September 2024. He stated, “The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board wishes to inform the general public that it will commence the next stage of the recruitment exercise in August and will conclude the exercise before the end of September 2024.”

All candidates who have been shortlisted for the next phase of the recruitment will receive notifications through their provided contact details. Ahmed apologized for the delay in the recruitment process, attributing it to a comprehensive manpower audit conducted across the various services under the Board.

“We apologize for our inability to complete the process by the originally intended date of June 15, 2024,” Ahmed said. “This delay was due to a nationwide manpower audit exercise carried out in the Nigerian Correctional Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, Federal Fire Service, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, which has only recently been concluded.”

Ahmed assured that all shortlisted candidates will be informed of the next steps via their phone numbers and email addresses. The government’s commitment to transparency and efficiency in the recruitment process remains a priority as they move forward with the final stages.
