Federal Government Charges Four with Terrorism in UniAbuja Kidnapping Case

The Federal Government is set to prosecute four men accused of kidnapping University of Abuja lecturers in 2021. The Attorney General of the Federation has filed a two-count terrorism charge against them at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

The accused individuals, Adamu Abubakar, Nura Muhammed Ahmadu, Ismailia Abubakar, and Abdulrahman Ado (aka Yellow), allegedly abducted six lecturers from the UniAbuja Staff Quarters in Gwagwalada and demanded N300 million ransom. They reportedly held the victims captive in a forest for three days.

The charge accuses the four men of conspiring to commit the offence and taking the victims hostage. The case was scheduled for arraignment but was postponed due to the Easter vacation of the Federal High Court. It has been adjourned until May 13, and Justice Donatus Okorowo has been assigned to preside over the case.
