The Federal Government has announced an additional public holiday on Thursday, April 11, 2024, for the celebration of Eid-El-Fitr. The statement was made by Dr. Aishetu Ndayako, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, in a statement posted on the ministry's official account on Tuesday.
Dr. Ndayako's statement read, "The Federal Government has approved Thursday, April 11, 2024, as an additional public holiday to celebrate this year's Eid-El-Fitr."
Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, congratulated the Muslim Ummah for the successful completion of a month of spiritual rejuvenation and reiterated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's commitment to ensuring a safe and prosperous Nigeria for all.
The Eid-El-Fitr celebration will begin on Wednesday, April 10, to mark the start of the new Islamic month. Earlier, the Federal Government had declared Tuesday and Wednesday, April 9 and 10, 2024, as public holidays for the Eid-El-Fitr celebration.
