The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted Chioma Okoli a N5 million bail with two sureties of the same amount over charges of alleged conspiracy and cyberstalking. The charges stem from her review of a tomato mix produced by Erisco Foods Limited.

The bail conditions set by the court on Friday, May 31, include a bail bond of N5 million, two sureties in like sum, one of whom must be a spouse or blood relative. Additionally, Okoli is required to submit two passport photographs and deposit her international passport with the court.

Okoli faces charges under the Cybercrime Act of 2015 for her online remarks about Erisco Foods Limited’s tomato paste, which the police allege contravened the act. She was brought before the court by the Inspector-General of Police and charged with two counts of cybercrime.

During the hearing, Okoli pleaded not guilty to both charges.

The case has been adjourned until June 13, 2024, for trial.
