FG begins disbursement of tertiary institution staff support fund

The Federal Government has begun disbursing funds under the Tertiary Institution Staff Support Fund (TISSF) — a welfare initiative aimed at improving staff well-being, boosting institutional productivity, and encouraging innovation across Nigeria’s tertiary education system.

This was made known in a statement released on Thursday in Abuja by the Director of Press and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Education, Mrs. Folasade Boriowo.

Quoting the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, Boriowo noted that the initiative is part of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at revitalizing the education sector and improving the welfare of its workforce.

According to Alausa, the programme has now moved from planning to full implementation, with over 9,000 tertiary institution staff already receiving payments in the first year. This represents 28% of the 33,000 verified applicants drawn from 219 federal and state-owned institutions across the country.
