The Federal Government has reportedly traced over N83 billion in cryptocurrency and fiat money believed to have been used to fund the recent nationwide protests, according to reports. This includes $50 million in cryptocurrency, with $38 million blocked in four wallets, and N4 billion contributed by political actors from Abuja, Kano, Kaduna, and Katsina.

This revelation was made by National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu during a presentation at the inaugural Council of State meeting convened by President Bola Tinubu at Aso Rock Villa, Abuja. Ribadu's presentation highlighted the financial and foreign influences behind the protests, including a European mastermind linked to the proliferation of foreign flags during demonstrations, who is expected to be declared wanted by the police soon.

Ribadu also disclosed that several local conspirators had been arrested, with ongoing efforts to track down the foreign agent. The Council of State meeting, which discussed various national issues, including the protests, security, and the economy, saw key figures like former Presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari in attendance. Notably, former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Head of State General Ibrahim Babangida were absent.

The protests, which escalated into violence and the loss of lives, have been linked to attempts to incite unconstitutional regime change, with the use of Russian flags during the demonstrations raising serious security concerns. Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, emphasized that any change in government must occur through democratic means, not insurrection.

Finance Minister Wale Edun provided an economic update, noting that while inflation remains high, there are positive signs of economic growth and stabilization. The Council of State unanimously passed a vote of confidence in President Tinubu, with the Nigeria Governors’ Forum echoing their support.
