A fire broke out on Sunday at the Gusau residence of Hon. Bilyaminu Moriki, Speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, destroying properties worth millions of naira. In a statement by the Chief Press Secretary, Bello Madaro, it was confirmed that although no lives were lost, the damage to the property was significant.
The Clerk of the House, Alhaji Mahmud Aliyu, expressed shock over the incident, describing it as a tragic calamity. Speaking on behalf of the assembly and its staff, Aliyu offered prayers to Almighty Allah, asking for protection from such events in the future, and conveyed the assembly’s sympathy to Moriki and his family.
Aliyu extended condolences not only to Moriki’s family but also to the people of Zurmi West constituency and the Zurmi Local Government Area, who were affected by the unfortunate event.
Reacting to the incident, Moriki thanked Allah that no casualties were recorded and praised the swift response of officials and Good Samaritans who helped control the blaze. He prayed for Allah’s abundant blessings upon all those who assisted during the crisis.
