The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Oyo State Command, says it is determined to build a strong road safety culture among young Nigerians through education and civic engagement.
In a statement posted on its official X handle on Friday, the command announced that it had organised an inter-school quiz competition for secondary school students as part of Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary celebrations.
The event, held on October 1 in partnership with Hallelujah Divine Height Organisation, brought students from across Oyo State together to test their knowledge on road safety, civic responsibility, and national awareness.
Sector Commander, Corps Commander RUK Alo, who addressed the students, said the Corps was committed to raising safety-conscious citizens by engaging schools regularly.
Stakeholders from agencies such as the NSCDC, NDLEA, and the Rescuer Organisation also took part, educating participants on safety and social responsibility.
Certificates and prizes were awarded to outstanding schools and students, while all participants were urged to become road safety ambassadors in their schools, homes, and communities.

The initiative is part of FRSC’s ongoing Catch Them Young programme, which focuses on instilling safety values in secondary school students. Recent data from the National Bureau of Statistics shows that youths between 10 and 29 years old made up more than 40 per cent of road accident victims recorded nationwide between 2020 and 2024, underscoring the importance of the campaign.
