Former Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu, has opted not to take sides in the ongoing political turmoil between the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara. This decision was made clear by Tinubu's Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, who emphasized that President Tinubu would not allow any actions that could hinder the Rivers State government.
The Rivers State government, in response to comments by the Abdulahi Ganduje-led All Progressives Congress (APC) suggesting Governor Fubara committed impeachable offenses, defended Fubara. The state's Commissioner for Information and Communications, Joseph Johnson, criticized Ganduje, stating that he lacked the moral standing to talk about impeachment and still had legal issues to resolve himself.
Meanwhile, Rivers State elders and leaders, including those from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and APC, have cautioned Governor Fubara against interfering with structures at the House of Assembly quarters. This warning followed Fubara's visit to the facility, raising concerns that renovations could impede the operations of the Amaewhule faction of the House of Assembly.
Despite calls from Rivers State youths for Tinubu to intervene and caution Minister Wike, Tinubu's camp reiterated that he would not take sides in the political crisis. They emphasized that President Tinubu's focus is on ensuring that all stakeholders have what they need to work effectively, and he will not allow any attempt to disrupt the affairs of the Rivers State government.
