Former President Goodluck Jonathan has called on the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, and his predecessor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, to reduce political tensions in Rivers State. Jonathan made this appeal during the commencement of the construction of the N222.1bn Trans-Kalabari Road.
Jonathan emphasized the need for Fubara and Wike to collaborate for the advancement of Rivers State's growth and development. He expressed concern over the high level of political tension in the state, noting that such crises would hinder the state's progress.
He highlighted that the destabilization of Rivers State would not only impact the Niger Delta region but also have adverse effects on the entire country. Jonathan stressed that Rivers State remained a critical part of Nigeria, and it was essential to prioritize peace and development in the state.
