Governor Abba Yusuf has officially reinstated Muhammadu Sanusi II as the 16th Emir of Kano, presenting him with a letter of appointment during a mini-durbar ceremony at the Africa House of the Kano State Government House on Friday, May 24.
The appointment came despite a Federal High Court in Kano issuing an injunction to stop the action. During the presentation, Governor Yusuf described Sanusi as a victim of the previous administration, now restored to his rightful position to lead the people of Kano.
The Nation reported that Sanusi, who was the 14th Emir of Kano, returns to the throne after a four-year hiatus. This reinstatement follows the signing of the Kano State Emirates Councils (Repeal) Bill 2024 by Governor Yusuf.
