Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has initiated the distribution of Federal Government palliatives to farmers in the state. The distribution, involving 40 trailers of grains, targets livestock farmers across the 18 local government areas. Aiyedatiwa emphasized that this measure aims to address the escalating food prices in the country.

To tackle the challenges of rising food costs, Governor Aiyedatiwa disclosed the establishment of a committee on agriculture and food security. This committee is tasked with implementing immediate actions to address the issue. The governor highlighted his administration's commitment to improving market access through rural road construction and empowering smallholder farmers through training, capacity building, and access to credit.

Aiyedatiwa underscored the significance of agriculture to the state's economy, noting that Ondo supplies 75 percent of tomatoes to markets in Lagos State. He expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the distribution of grains and other commodities nationwide.

In his address, Aiyedatiwa outlined the distribution as the first step in a series of activities aimed at ensuring food security and implementing modern agricultural interventions. He acknowledged the challenges posed by the removal of petrol subsidies, which has contributed to rising inflation and made life challenging for many. Aiyedatiwa affirmed the government's commitment to ensuring food availability and affordability for all citizens.
